Safety Policy
How Cookhouse reporting, blocking, evidence, moderation, and appeals work.
Effective September 15, 2026 · Version 2026-09-15
Immediate danger
Cookhouse is not an emergency service. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Do not wait for Cookhouse review. For child sexual exploitation material, do not download, forward, or attach it to email; use the in-app report tools or contact the appropriate national reporting authority.
What can be reported
Eligible users may report groups, members, messages, replies, secured-bag updates, or shouts for scams, harassment, hate or abuse, threats, sexual content, child safety, doxxing, illegal or regulated activity, impersonation, intellectual property, or other violations. Accuracy and staleness reports are treated as inventory-quality feedback. You cannot report yourself.
Review and local moderation
You receive a receipt and can follow eligible status in Safety Center. Similar open reports may be reviewed together, but report counts never automatically remove content or sanction an account. Group owners and admins see a reporter-anonymous case and may take group-local action. Cookhouse reviews escalated and urgent cases and retains final authority over the Service.
Evidence and confidentiality
Cookhouse may preserve a snapshot of reported context, including content from private groups, even if the original is edited, deleted, or the account closes. Reporter identity is not shown to the reported person or group admins. Authorized safety personnel may access evidence; access is limited and audited. Child-safety imagery is excluded from ordinary tooling and email.
Blocking
Blocking is private. It hides the blocked member’s content and pairwise interactions for you and suppresses related notifications, but does not remove either person from a shared group. Moderators retain the visibility needed to administer the group and review reports.
Targets and appeals
Urgent reports have a 24-hour internal prioritization target and standard reports a 72-hour target; these are not guaranteed resolution times. A person affected by eligible action may appeal within 14 days without learning reporter identity. If in-app access is unavailable, email support@getcookhouse.com with the case ID and “Safety appeal.”
Law enforcement and regulators
We may preserve or disclose information when required or permitted by law, valid legal process, an emergency, child-safety duties, fraud prevention, or protection of rights and safety. We evaluate requests for legal sufficiency where appropriate and do not promise advance user notice. Regulators and trusted flaggers may use the contact below for legally required channels.
Contact
Email support@getcookhouse.com. Include enough information to locate the content, but do not email sensitive evidence that can be reported in-app.
