Account Deletion
How to delete a Cookhouse account and what happens next.

Request deletion
Signed-in users can choose Settings → Account → Delete account in the Cookhouse app. The app shows deletion impact, requires recent authentication, issues a short-lived confirmation, and asks you to confirm. If you cannot access the account, email support@getcookhouse.com from the account email with “Account deletion.” We will verify the request.
Before deletion
You must transfer ownership of or disband groups you own so other members are not stranded. An active app-store subscription does not block deletion, but deletion does not cancel it; cancel separately through Apple or Google. Unresolved legal, safety, creator, tax, refund, or payment holds are shown where possible and may affect only the records that must be preserved.
What is deleted
We delete or de-identify the account profile, authentication account, Discord credentials, push devices, memberships, messages, replies, reactions, mentions, personal media, ordinary revision content, preferences, and ordinary support-linked identifiers. Local caches are removed by the apps during the flow where technically available and can also be cleared by uninstalling.
Historical observations
Historical store shouts may be converted into private de-identified observations containing only store, item, availability or quantity, and observation time. User identity, notes, media, online URL, purchase details, and group attribution are removed. This preserves the historical nature of store checks without preserving the reporter.
Limited retention
Cookhouse may retain narrowly scoped safety evidence, enforcement, appeals, copyright notices, fraud and security records, legal holds, disputes, and future tax or payment records for their documented periods. These records are access-restricted and not kept for ordinary product use. Account deletion does not erase data another user independently provided or information already lawfully made public outside Cookhouse.
Timing and backups
Ordinary deletion is completed within 30 days after a verified, unblocked request. Residual encrypted backup copies expire through provider backup lifecycles and are not restored for ordinary use. We will notify you if law permits an extension or prevents deletion of a specific record.
Underage accounts
If a user indicates they are below the applicable minimum age—under 13 in the United States or under 16 elsewhere—Cookhouse blocks group content access and directs the account into deletion. A parent or guardian may contact support about an underage account.
